Ray Of Light On Some Rules Of Website Optimization

Importance of HTML Tags in Search Engine Optimization

Every programmer knows that a code is an essential part of the program, of course besides the logical schema, which has to be worked out beforehand. In web design it is particularly important: it is viewed as a building block by an internet explorer as well as search engine optimizer by Google, yahoo, msn and all the rest of the search engines. Thus the proper use of HTML tags will be an optimal tool in order to fulfill the top search place.

As I have already mentioned in my previous paper keywords are playing the most crucial part in SEO, but the combination of those keywords in html tags make it even more extreme in order to achieve SEO. Everybody knows what a Title and Meta tags are and it was talked about a lot. But in reality because of the fact that crawlers and spiders are searching contents from your website starting from top and ending at the bottom, these tags are vital for you to consider.

For example you are a businessman who opens his own small business and tries to attract clients through the web. Your product is weight loss protein shake. You want to be on top of the search list and your company’s name is Magical Weight Loss Shakes Inc, and you product is Body Slimming Shake.

Again hierarchy of the web pages will play the key role here you can look it up in my previous article, home page->>products page->> body slimming shake page

Title Body Slimming Protein Shake – Magical Weight Loss – Lose it fast /Title

It is a little bit vague as it might seem from the first time but I covered 3 most important keywords in my title: body slimming, weight loss, lose weight fast. Of course you will choose to name the product so that it reflects the essence of what you do, this will also help you in search engine optimization.

Another important HTML tag is Meta. At this point I would be very picky, don’t just repeat every single word all over again, if you will do it, Google will see you as a spam. Try to think as a client who wants to lose weight and searches tips over the web. So I’m a 300 pound man wanting to lose weight but don’t want to exercise, I go to Google and search for lose weight with shakes. Top three listings is what I need because I’m too lazy to go further open those three windows and go to view (in menu bar)-> source -> and look at their meta tag. Those are essential keywords of your competitors, don’t rush to cut and paste it, think what you want to achieve.

Lets get back to our example

meta name=”description” content=”Body Slimming Protein Shake – Magical Weight Loss – Lose it fast”

meta name=”keywords” content=”body slimming protein shake-magical weight loss-weight loss, become slim, become slim fast , weigh losing programs, protein shakes for weight loss and slimming, want to slim down, want to lose weight, no exercise weight loss programs… etc
You can go on like this until you think you are satisfied just be reasonable don’t repeat one single word all over the place.

Choosing best keywords for promoting your website

Search Engine Optimization Tips used by dArt Design

#Find the very best keywords for promoting your web site

#Using the right keywords is the cornerstone of successful search engine optimization.

#Finding the right keywords is an important step that you should take seriously if you want to be successful with your web site.

#What can happen if you target the wrong keywords?

You will lose a lot of time and you will lose a lot of sales if you target the wrong keywords. You will invest a lot of time in optimizing your web pages for keywords for which your web site cannot get high rankings at the moment.

Or you will invest a lot of time in optimizing your web pages for keywords that don’t convert to sales. In both cases, you won’t get much sales.

The effect of bad neighborhood links on your web site rankings

Linking to other web sites can hurt your rankings if you link to the wrong web sites. Links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web can have a negative effect on your rankings on Google and other search engines.

A Google official has recently commented on bad neighborhood links and how they affect your web site rankings on Google.

What are bad neighborhood links?

It seems that Google doesn’t like the following type of web sites:

* free for all links pages (FFA)
* link farms (automated linking schemes with lots of unrelated links)
* known web spammers

Linking to that type of site can have a negative effect on your Google rankings.

Is there an official Google statement about bad neighborhood links?

What Google looks for in regards to bad neighborhood penalties:

1. There is no relation between outbound links and Google’s supplemental index.

“It’s unlikely that your outbound linking is causing your pages to be listed in the supplemental, rather than main index.”

2. Google looks for bad neighborhood linking patterns

“Also, be assured that we’re not looking to penalize folks for a ‘bad’ link here and there. Rather, our algorithms are tuned to look for patterns of ‘egregious’ linking behavior… both on individual sites and in the aggregate.”

3. You should check the links on your web site

“It’s certainly in your users’ interest that you regularly audit outgoing links on your site (especially prominent ones) to ensure that you’re not losing folks’ trust by sending them to inappropriate places or 404 pages.

Sure, it’s great to keep Google happy, but it’s usually more important (long term) to have your users be return visitors.”

Google, Yahoo and Microsoft team up for Sitemaps protocol

Last week, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft agreed to support the Sitemap 0.9 protocol. How can this new standard help you to improve the ranking of your web site in search engines?

What are sitemaps and what is the Sitemaps protocol?

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.

In its simplest form, a sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL:

* when it was last updated
* how often it usually changes
* how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site

This helps search engines to more intelligently crawl your site.

The Sitemaps 0.9 protocol is a new standard that will make it easier to create a sitemap that can be parsed by all search engines.

How can you benefit from this new standard?

Web crawlers usually discover pages from links within the site and from other sites. Sitemaps supplement this data to allow crawlers that support sitemaps to pick up all URLs in the sitemap and learn about those URLs using the associated metadata.

The sitemap allows you to inform search engines about the pages on your web site. Depending on how your web site is structured, it can be easier for search engines to find all of your web pages if you use a sitemap.

Does using the Sitemaps 0.9 protocol improve your search engine rankings?

Using the Sitemap protocol does not guarantee that your web pages are included in search engines, but provides hints for web crawlers to do a better job of crawling your site.

A sitemap helps search engines to find your web pages but it does not help you to get higher search engine rankings. High rankings on search engines are the result of good inbound links and optimized web page content.

If your web pages have both, then search engines will give them high rankings.
